Steve has spent the last 20 years learning about anatomy and physiology in a never ending quest to understand how our bodies work and the best approaches to help people overcome their health issues and to be at their best.

He incorporates Systematic Kinesiology, Bowen Therapy, Acupuncture, Nutritional Therapy, Functional Biochemistry and Massage into his consultations. Steve has studied with some of the world's leading teachers in their field and is currently enrolled in a Chiropractic Masters.

In his sessions he draws from his years of diverse experiences working as a therapist within the NHS, within a private healthcare setting supporting deaf and autistic young adults, as a Tai Chi and martial arts instructor and from his own private clinics where over the years he has assisted clients to achieve profound changes in their physical and mental health. Steve is passionate about empowering his clients and educating them in practical ways to take responsibility for their own health and to help them see lasting positive changes in their overall wellbeing.

  • Systematic Kinesiology

    A short and concise explanation:

Systematic Kinesiology Practitioners are able to investigate the relationship between your muscles and your internal organs and glands, and how they all interrelate with the acupuncture system through manual muscle testing.

Muscle testing is used as an assessment tool. If a muscle is weak or hypertonic the practitioner's job is to find out the root cause of the weakness or the hypertonicity. Various techniques are then employed to determine whether structural techniques (massage, lymphatic reflex massage, fascial release, acupressure, cranial work, gentle manipulation), nutritional supplementation, emotional or energy work is needed.

    A more in depth explanation:

The evidence is clear that what we eat and drink, our environment, what we put on our skin, our structural imbalances and how we manage our emotions all determine our health and wellbeing. Kinesiology, through muscle testing, helps to identify the hidden factors that are detrimental to our health as well as identifying positive factors to help restore balance. Every treatment is specific to that individual's needs.

Inside each of us is a unique factory for synthesizing and metabolizing nutrients, chemicals, hormones, etc. This is our own "inner pharmacy". If we keep it stocked with all the necessary ingredients, it can function as a potent and efficient system allowing the body to heal itself, which in turn serves us well into old age. Muscle testing incorporated with functional biochemistry can determine what your body needs to restore optimal function either by eliminating substances that you may be sensitive to, or by boosting natural levels of nutrients using foods, vitamins, herbs and other nutritional supplementation.

Using muscle testing, kinesiology enables us to identify problematic areas and tackle the underlying cause of health issues. Kinesiology is based on the neurological premise that something that weakens a strong muscle is a stress to your body, whereas something that strengthens a weak muscle is of benefit or relevant to the weakness. Emotional associations which contribute or result in imbalance and structural distortions can also be identified and corrected.

The beauty of kinesiology is that most people feel a change in muscle response and how effective the treatment is immediately and these results can be long lasting. During the sessions specific nutrition to support bodily function, is identified and used together with cutting edge techniques to achieve structural and emotional balance. Goal setting, changing belief patterns, breaking addictions and working with post-traumatic stress are some of the emotional issues that kinesiology has helped with.

Kinesiology can be of benefit to young and old alike and even pets. Whether you have a diagnosed health problem or simply feel there is 'something not quite right' this is a safe and natural approach to better health.

  • Bowen Therapy

Bowen Therapy is a very gentle form of natural healing. It needs to be experienced to be appreciated. Bowen Therapy comprises a series of light, gentle “moves” applied to specific points on the body with significant time pauses between each series of moves. These “gaps” between moves are to allow the body to respond to and integrate the changes that each move instigates. The therapist will usually leave the room during these pauses to allow the client to relax and not feel obliged to hold conversation or feel they are being observed. Pause lengths may vary from person to person and condition to condition.

The therapist uses his fingers and thumbs to “lightly” move over muscles, ligaments and tendons and sometimes, directly over nerves themselves to evoke a healing response in the client’s body. The ”moves” are gently applied and no force is used in the Bowen Therapy. On 99% of occasions, the client will let him/herself go into a deep state of relaxation and sometimes actually go to sleep. Whilst it is preferable to work directly upon the skin, the Bowen moves can be executed through light clothing.

Bowen Therapy is so gentle and non-invasive that the first time reaction from recipients of the Bowen Therapy is invariably to ask “How could something so gentle and non-invasive achieve any results?” A healthy scepticism is very common prior to the first treatment and it is the client’s experience of the therapy and the results during the first week that alter the client’s perception of the therapy.

Bowen is a safe, gentle and effective and achieves significant results. Bowen 'moves' appear to initiate and stimulate a release and rebalance in the body's fascia. This fascia is a liquid crystal bio-matrix which covers everything in our body. It covers the muscles, individual muscle fibres, organs and the nerves. Signals are sent through the fascia which translates into a safe, rapid self-healing process that has few, if any, short term side effects and which typically provides long term relief from pain and discomfort for a large number of clients affected by a wide range of conditions.

  • Acupuncture

Research into acupuncture continues to show its effectiveness for a variety of different health issues. There are specific acupuncture points all over the body where needles are inserted to help facilitate healing. Steve predominantly uses it for musculoskeletal issues.

  • Holistic Massage

Steve uses a wide range of hands on therapeutic massage techniques that not only help to heal structural and mechanical issues but aim to make you feel better in yourself.
